LATEST NEWS IN BARTONVILLE:
The new Marty B's Coffee House will be opening soon. It looks good from the outside and we're sure Marty will make it look great inside, too.
The old 7-11 store in Bartonville Town Center will soon be the take-out part of Marty B's original restaurant. That, too, is coming soon.
Hudson Ranch up behind Marty B's has broken ground so there will soon be new homes on 2 acre minimum lands up there. Additionally the acreage across 407 from Tractor Supply is in the early states of developing another 2 acre subdivision.
A third smaller 2 acre subdivision is under construction on McMakin Rd. We are growing and the developers are all following the current Land Use Plan.
The metroplex is rapidly growing up around us. We have become a little island in the middle of the suburban sprawl which are surrounding us. We believe that in order to protect this town from small lots and lots of commercial, we need to elect strong people who can weather the storm of pressure from developers. We look for people with principles who won't let being an elected official go to their head.
We do our best to keep you informed. Multiple people (not necessarily the same people) interview candidates just like a job interview. After discussion with more people who support KBC's philosophy KBC endorses those know the job, have been on a committee or attended town meetings and who support the ordinances, the land use plan that you support and don't appear to have a personal agenda. Elected officials work for all of us not the other way around. If they do their job, we continue to support them. If they cease to stand for the principles they campaigned on, then we do not support them in their next election.
KBC isn't a club but it acts as a clearinghouse to keep you up to date on things happening here.
1. KBC was the first to sound the alarm directly to you about our ETJ land that is part of Furst Ranch. The residents had not been informed that Flower Mound and Mr. Furst wanted Bartonville to release our ETJ land so it could be annexed by Flower Mound. Flower Mound will no longer negotiate with us so neither Flower Mound nor Bartonville can influence what happens to that land other than Bartonville act as building inspectors for whatever is built on it.
2. KBC was the first to report that a now former councilman had spoken to several people. The mayor and he then held a joint council/PandZ workshop suggesting removal of our planned 5 acre subdivisions and replacing them with all 2 acre tracts was a better idea. The increased in traffic, the wear and tear on the roads, increased policing with population increase was never discussed or studied. Would the increase in ad valorum be worth subdivisions without horses, cows, equestrian centers and pastures traded for big lawns?
You are the ones who decide these issues at public hearings and at the ballot box. What you love about Bartonville is why we all came. Everyone who believes as we do that "Bartonville is worth keeping" must be diligent. That is what we do and we let you know when we see issues that will keep you informed, too. We need more people to attend meetings or do backgound research on issues or follow plans in adjacent towns that could affect us. Follow the county Commissioners Court plans that could change things in Bartonville.
We are a Type A General Law town. We have some restrictions by being General Law but in order to become a home rule city, we would have to grow to a minimum of 5,000 people. With the planned growth of developed lands, we will reach somewhere in the area of 3,000. Below are some questions that will help you understand how we have growth that has been carefully planned which gives this town balance and opportunity without turning to a town we don't recognize.
What is a Comprehensive Land Use Plan? Do we have ordinances for the different land uses to be developed? Why don't we have sewer? Why is it important to have elected officials who will pledge to stick to the Land Use Plan? Will there be land size balances as the rest of the town develops? Are we in debt? Do we have the budget for 24/7 police?
